Topic

Simulation of a turbulent pipe flow with the help of Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics

Abridged version

The primary objective of the work is to simulate the flow profile of a three-dimensional pipe flow with the help of the simulation process Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH). Thereby, the variants Weakly Compressible (WCSPH) and Incompressible (ISPH) should be applied. Moreover, the flow field should be calculated and evaluated in and before a manifold. Subsequently, the results should be validated with the measurement results. Finally, the methods used should be evaluated towards previous simulations based on Finite volume Method.

The flow simulation is performed by an own software package as well as the freely available software DualSPHysics.
